Suburb Zero, the all electric suburb
Electrify one, electrify them all.
Imagine this: every home in your suburb is electric.
What does that look like? Electrifying six key parts of your household.
From houses…
…to apartments
What is Suburb Zero ACT?
Electrifying 6 key parts of your home
Installing solar PV
Installing a solar battery
Replacing a gas heating system with an electric reverse-cycle air-conditioning system
Replacing a gas hot water heater with a heat pump water heater
Replacing a gas cooktop with an induction cooktop.
Acquiring a 2-year lease for an electric vehicle (EV) - including bike, scooter, motorbike - with an option to purchase at the end of the lease
500-1,000 electrified homes
A Suburb Zero pilot would include 500-1,000 households in a geographical area (but we’re open to all ideas!) that could apply for subsidies and/or concessional loans to electrify their home.
It would mean lower energy costs and zero emissions homes for the whole community.
Opt-in
This pilot program would be opt-in, focused on the parts of a home that still need to be electrified.
If you want to get started, we have a checklist
To help you get started on your electrification journey, or check your progress, take a look at our checklist - developed by Northside Mike and reviewed and approved by our volunteer Sparky, Bobby. Remember:
Step-by-step Choose 1-2 at a time
